Since I have transitioned from a more conservative and traditional career as a lawyer into more of a creative (although I don't consider myself a creative) space as a stylist, I sometimes crave the energy of other creatives for inspiration and motivation in my journey. Unfortunately, I have found that attending certain "fashion/style" events can be a little hit, and a lot of miss. However, a few Fridays ago I had the opportunity to go to Femme Fatale DC. I had seen it posted by various women in the DMV over the last few weeks and had put it on my calendar. It was advertised as an all women Networking and Fashion Party- and I had no idea what to expect. Especially since I have attended a number of fashion events in DC that I found to be severely underwhelming. Sorry not sorry if you are one of those who has thrown one of these poorly attended, lack luster event but I am more sorry to those of us who had to painfully endure it. But back to the subject of this post: Femme Fatale DC - an all women networking and fashion event.
Some of you may already be turned off reading that is a women's only party but I am and have always been a woman's woman.
So just like I crave to be around the energy of creatives I crave to be around positive energy of women, and sometimes the lack of testertorone is in the room can provide for a more pleasant experience because women don't necessarily feel that they are competing for the attention of that one fine baller in the room. Just an observation.
Upon walking in I was immediately impressed, never have I ever in DC and maybe even ever in life have I walked into a room and seen so many individually stylish women even during NYFW!
