Fall in Love with Plaid

Hot this season is plaid. While plaid is trending, plaid has always been a classic staple pattern. This season though- Iam seeing either a total matching of plaids which I call plaid overhaul or a total mismatching of plaids which I call plaid attack. I am going to give you tips to achieve both.

For plaid overhaul: you need to find several items, my suggested number is 3, with the same sequence and color of plaid. Sure it would be ideal if you could find all 3 pieces together, but it may not happen ideally. As a master thrifter, I love finding things separately but not all of us have the patience. To make your search easier, just go with a more popular plaid pattern like the one show below.

Traditional plaid refers to a pattern consisting of cross cross horizontal and vertical bands in multiple colors.

But if you are a little bit more patient and daring choose a less popular plaid. Regardless the choice of plaid pattern, I suggest doing only 3 pieces as anything over 4 may be overwhelming and over- powering particularly if you are petite.

To achieve a plaid attack look, you will need a mix of plaids. The plaid patterns should be complementary-so if you have a plaid pastel, you may want to stay away from a warm colored plaid as they may potentially clash. So the question remains how to choose which plaids will be complimentary. Think similar hue, tones, and colors.

For a more ready to wear approach to this fall fashion trend consider pairing with a bomber or denim jacket.

Don't overthink the plaid pattern sizes since you are mixing prints it doesn't really matter. The key to successfully achieving the plaid attack look is to look like you know what you are doing not like you just threw something together - even if you did.

So what are your thoughts on this fall fashion trend? Will you be participating in a plaid overhaul or plaid attack? Or will be leaving the trend for the runway?
